Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Training in Hampshire for Future and Practising Hypnotherapists
Our next Hampshire HPD course HA7 starts:
26th/ 27th February 2022
Covid update: CPHT Hampshire has resumed face-to-face training at Chilworth Manor!
Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT) is a nationwide hypnotherapy training body providing a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) Course for the modern hypnotherapist. This course is designed for students wishing to become practising hypnotherapists.
The Chairman and Founder of CPHT is David Newton, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. CPHT Hampshire, providing hypnotherapy training across all of Hampshire – from Portsmouth to Southampton, Winchester and Chilworth – is run by Senior Lecturers Paul Hancocks and Lisa Williams. They will also provide you with ongoing support once you are qualified. CPHT Hampshire is supported by CPHT Head Quarters and accompanied by their Senior Lecturers and guest speaker throughout the course.
Hypnotherapy is now considered to be one of the fastest growing professions in the United Kingdom and CPHT has enabled hundreds of students to become successful hypnotherapists. If you intend to make hypnotherapy your new career, part-time or full-time, we believe you have come to the right place.
Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) Course
Perhaps you are looking for a new direction in life? A career change? New skills to enhance your current career? This could be exactly what you are looking for!
Our Hypnotherapy Training held over two days a month for ten months is divided into ten Modules, one per weekend. The HPD Course is of approximately 120 hours duration of classroom study plus practice between sessions. It is designed to help you effectively and confidently learn everything you need to know to become an extremely competent Clinical Hypnotherapist. Each module will be a combination of learning during lectures as well as practical exercises designed for you to practise the skills you will be learning as you learn them. Therefore, as well as giving you the knowledge you need, we will be helping you to apply the skills you will be using.
In between the two days each month we meet with you, we recommend that you practise the new knowledge you are learning with friends/family/work colleagues/fellow delegates. We suggest you allow 5 hours a week for this purpose. This will help you to really hone the skills we are teaching you, enabling you to become a confident and competent Hypnotherapist.
Knowing you will be able to help people to reduce stress and anxiety, feel calmer, happier and more confident; more successful; that you can improve performance and confidence whether in Sport or Business, School, College, University or anywhere else, and that you enable people to STOP Smoking, as well as lose unwanted Fears and Phobias, is immensely rewarding*.
Our Courses are held in Chilworth Manor Hotel, Chilworth, Hampshire. Its location makes it easily accessible by road, rail, air and even sea with Southampton Cruise Terminal, as well as its International Airport mere minutes away.
Successful graduation leads to a full Diploma qualification (DSFH) and the nationally accredited (NCFE) Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD). Students are assessed throughout their training and there will be a requirement for a practical assessment. Students are required to charge the “student rate”, 50% of the normal fee, after the 7th module. This becomes an obligatory part of the course after the 8th module.
At the end of the studies students are asked to submit a portfolio, compiled throughout the training, for assessment both within CPHT and externally leading to the Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD). HPD has been accredited by the NCFE as having measurable learning outcomes that have been benchmarked at Level 4 using Ofqual’s Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptions.
*Hypnotherapy is now well recognised within the medical and hospital environment and can be immensely useful when used in this way. Its usefulness and benefits are now acknowledged by Doctors, Anaesthetists, Nurses and Surgeons.
The CPHT HPD Course is nationally accredited by the following bodies :
- National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH)
- Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH)
- General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC)
- National Board for Modern Psychotherapy (NBMP)
For full details of accreditation see Accreditation, Membership organisations and Professional letters.
One of the strengths of CPHT is ongoing career progression. Once you have successfully graduated from the HPD Course you are eligible to sign up for the following courses :
- Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD)
The Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma (AHD) is the next stage in the advancement of your professional career as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist. When you successfully pass the AHD you will be awarded a certificate of achievement by NCFE. The AHD has been accredited by the NCFE as having measurable learning outcomes that have been benchmarked at Level 5 (using Ofqual’s Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors). AHD is the highest award certificate of achievement that can be awarded by NCFE that Clifton Practice of Hypnotherapy Training offers.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
As an HPD Graduate you will be able to participate in a wide range of CPD’s. CPHT offer a broad range of CPD courses (via video conferencing and face to face) which allow you to learn about specific areas of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy such as Psychoneuroimmunology, Childbirth, Weight Management etc.
- Supervisor Course
Although guidelines vary, all professional hypnotherapy associations require their members to participate in Supervision with a qualified Hypnotherapy Supervisor. It may seem a long way off, but after you have a few years as a Practitioner under your belt you may want to help other Hypnotherapists grow and become better at what they do. Another level 5 qualification, CPHT’s Supervisor Course equips you with the skills to do this.

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy uses practical, modern, and well researched strategies to help people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. Working with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, the Solution Focused Hypnotherapist looks at what the client wants to achieve rather than on the problem(s) that prompted them to seek change.
The approach focuses on the present and future and not on the past. The Hypnotherapist asks the client to consider their preferred future, for instance, what would be better if the problem had improved? What would have changed? This enables the client’s possible solutions to become more apparent and worked towards. Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety and this is done very simply through relaxation and visualisation, allowing the client to focus on the positive aspects of their lives that encourages a shift in perspective.
Through working with the client, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help with Confidence and Self Esteem problems. It can also help (if necessary in conjunction with medication) in the treatment of Depression and Anxiety, including Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Minor Phobias such as spiders, water, flying and public speaking can also be minimised, along with painful memories and traumatic experiences.
